Commercial Pilots License Requirements
To qualify for the Commercial Pilot License requirements, you must be at least 18 years of age. Additionally, you must hold a valid, current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate. While a Third-Class Medical Certificate suffices for student pilots, a Second-Class is necessary for operating as a commercial pilot. You must also be proficient in reading, speaking, writing, and understanding the English language. To meet the Commercial Pilot License requirements, it’s essential that you complete the necessary flight training, which should be documented in your logbook or official training records, in order to pass the FAA written and practical flight examinations. Holding at least a private pilot certificate or meeting the criteria outlined in §61.73 is required. You’ll need to accumulate a total of 250 hours of logged flight time and successfully pass the FAA Commercial Pilot Knowledge Test with a minimum score of 70%. Finally, passing the FAA Practical Flight Test with a designated pilot examiner (DPE) is a crucial step in your journey, ensuring you receive personalized training tailored to achieve your commercial flying goals.
